Several common types of furniture paint and a brief introduction
Furniture is a very important presence in home decoration, and some people also choose to customize furniture. Not only do you need to put in some effort in selecting furniture, but you also need to pay attention to the protection of furniture. The most important way to protect furniture is to apply paint. So what are the common types of furniture paint? What are the advantages and disadvantages of these paint types? Next, I will introduce it to you.
1. Nitrocellulose lacquer
This is currently the most commonly used type of furniture paint. Due to its simple construction, fast drying, low environmental requirements, and good hardness and brightness, it is also easy to repair in the future, so it is commonly used in decoration projects. The disadvantage is that the protective effect of the paint film layer is not very good, and it is not heat-resistant or resistant to organic solvents.
2. Polyester paint
This is a thick paint made with polyester resin as the main film-forming material. This type of paint has a thick film and a hard surface. Therefore, during the construction process of polyester paint, a curing process is required, and the main component of the curing agent is toluene diisocyanate, which poses a risk of sensitization and irritation to the human body. The drying speed is also slow, and the technical content requirements are relatively high.
3. Mixed paint
This is a type of paint made by adding pigments to the base of varnish, with different dosages of matting agents added to produce matte mixed paint and semi matte mixed paint. Mixed paint can be divided into two types: oily and magnetic mixed paint. Magnetic mixed paint is commonly used indoors. It has a harder film and a brighter and smoother color than oily mixed paint, but its weather resistance is not as good as oily mixed paint.
4. Alkyd paint
This type of paint is mainly composed of alkyd resin. Construction environment requirements, low price, durability, weather resistance, and good decoration. But it dries slowly and the paint film cannot meet high requirements, mainly suitable for painting some furniture with low requirements.
5. Polyurethane paint
This belongs to the premium paint category. It has excellent color, heat resistance, corrosion resistance, and other properties. Mainly used for automobiles, furniture, high-end decoration, etc. Generally, it is rarely used for decoration, but it can also be used if there is a need.
6. Phenolic paint
Phenolic paint is a type of paint prepared by boiling phenolic resin with dry vegetable oil, adding drying agents and solvents. Its coating is bright, durable, water and acid resistant, but its texture is brittle and its color is prone to yellowing. It is now rarely used in home decoration projects.
The above is a brief introduction to the advantages and disadvantages of several common types of furniture paint. I believe everyone has gained an understanding of various paint types and has made some choices in their selection.
